How to buy a homeschool kids microscope?

Can you answer Greencastle PS's question about Homeschooling?:

Any of you who may have bought microscopes for your homeschool kids, what was the price range you paid, features you looked for and what did you use it for? I was a veterinary pathologist so when I look at one I am looking for way more than my kids need. Thanks for the advice. Oh, any good sites to shop?

I went to a store called "Play & Learn" that sells stuff for homeschooled children. I bought a nice microscope that has 3 settings and works great for us for $60.00.

Hi! I live in a college town and have seen a lot of microscopes go through Goodwill for a fraction of the price a new one would cost. Glad you are homeschooling. I really feel it is a way for children to get a superior education. Teach on!

ebay is where I got mine , it costed $45.00 it was used but works great and it has different settings and came with the slides and everything we needed . I was not sure what I needed for my kids so I just asked questions on ebay because most of the homeschool stuff on there are sold by parents that homeschool so they were able to answer my questions.

Depends on the age.

Younger than 12 a Mayflower is acceptable.

Over 12 a Bushnell.

Something with a movable stage might be nice!

You also want a light.

A vernier for fine adjustment is also nice.

You ought to know more about the theoretical limits of eye piece and objective.
